Library cards for teachers

Teachers! Did you know…

As a public service in support of students of Waterville, Waterville Public Library offers free library cards to teachers, staff and administrators in area k-12 schools. These Educator's Cards are to be used for professional and classroom materials only.

With your Educator’s Library Card, you may check out Children's Department books for a longer period than the usual two weeks. We can sometimes arrange longer-than-usual loans for other types of library materials, too -- just ask a member of the Children's Department staff. We do request that you consider other patrons and limit the number of items on a single subject.

You will have 24/7 access to the Minerva network of Maine public and college libraries, and you may request Interlibrary Loan from these library collections. If you use the Requestor Function available through the Minerva online catalog, material often arrives within 4 business days. Check-out periods for Minerva loans vary, but most items are loaned for two weeks or more.

To get your Educator's library card, please come to the Library and fill out an application form. Please use your work address on your application for an Educator’s card. We ask that you bring your school id or other proof of eligibility for Educator’s privileges.

The Minerva network also hosts MARVEL, a group of full text databases, dictionaries, encyclopedias and periodical indexes available to Maine citizens around the clock and completely free. Ask us, or your school librarian for more information.
