BETWEEN THE LINES Presents: A Woman of No Importance

October 1, 2017 • 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: Aqua City Actors Theatre, Studio 93, 93 Main St., Waterville, Maine 04901
This week's reading: A Woman of No Importance by Oscar Wilde
Sunday, October 1, 2017, 2:00 pm
A Woman of No Importance satirizes upper-class English society at the end of the nineteenth century. It takes place, for the most part, in the homes of the rich and powerful, where lords, ladies and the clergy socialize and gossip about their contemporaries. When young Gerald Arbuthnot, a simple bank clerk, is made secretary to Lord Illingworth, a witty and flirtatious man of means, Gerald’s mother objects vehemently. Mrs. Arbuthnot alone knows the truth about Lord Illingworth’s past, which she is reluctant to reveal to her son. Can this “woman of no importance” prevail against this man of questionable scruples and immense power?
